The Context
Cameroon is the undisputed agricultural leader of the Central African Economic and Monetary Community (CEMAC), earning the historic title of "the breadbasket of Central Africa," with an economic weight that alone accounts for nearly 40% of the region's GDP.
While nations like Gabon and Equatorial Guinea have focused their economies almost exclusively on oil extraction, neglecting the countryside and importing over 80% of their food, Cameroon has exploited an extraordinary range of climates to maximize its crop diversity. Added to this is its strategic logistical position, where the port of Douala serves as a mandatory transit hub for goods destined for landlocked countries such as Chad and the Central African Republic.
The country faces a frustrating paradox: despite being considered the potential breadbasket of Central Africa thanks to the fertility of its southern soils, the entire sector is hampered by structural inefficiencies. Cameroon loses between 40% and 50% of its harvest due to impassable roads, inadequate transportation, and a complete lack of refrigerated trucks. Actual market availability plummets. Furthermore, all production is dependent on seasonal climate: during the rainy season, there is massive overproduction, prices plummet, and farmers are often forced to throw away their produce because they don't know how to preserve it. A few months later, during the dry season, ground production drops to zero due to lack of water and pests, markets empty, and prices skyrocket.

Water quality and seasonality: Streams near urban and agricultural areas are contaminated due to the lack of sewage treatment systems. Farmers, using this water to irrigate their fields, contaminate their produce. Furthermore, many small rivers used for irrigation dry up completely between January and March. This stalls production, driving up produce prices.

The land: The uncontrolled use of chemical pesticides and fungicides fill vegetables with toxic substances at levels above healthy standards.

The uncertainty of the seasons: The rainy seasons, once precise to the second, are now unpredictable. Sometimes the rains arrive early, destroying the flowers; sometimes the dry season is prolonged, creating unexpected droughts. This makes open-air farming a gamble. Agricultural production is guaranteed by state-of-the-art greenhouses with soil-less cultivation.
Our partners, world leaders in these technologies, will support the project throughout the technical design and management phases, ensuring stable production year-round. The goal is not only to guarantee continuous production, but to offer a complete and self-sufficient package, taking into account the climate, environment, and national geopolitical framework.
The goal is the same: to ensure stable production that can be integrated into national food sovereignty plans and projects. The greenhouses are designed down to the smallest detail based on the territory, climate, production, and demand.
Our Proposal
The ARIEL module was designed to have a single purpose, but with different purposes and characteristics depending on the needs.
Given the dependence on imports, our group proposes a strategic PPP (Public Private Partnership) aimed at ensuring Food Sovereignty for the production of the ARIEL module.
Through the creation of a hub of integrated industrial greenhouses, we are able to ensure an uninterrupted supply of vegetables year-round at a fixed, agreed-upon price, eliminating market fluctuations and dependence on imports.
We propose a collaboration based on a BOT (Build-Operate-Transfer) agreement.
Our goal is to support the government by ensuring a technologically advanced facility with high production output. During the PPP (Public Private Partnership) period, we will train local workers so that the entire facility can be transferred to Cameroon upon the contract's expiration.
The Pilot project
As a pilot project, we are offering a 15-hectare ARIEL module in the Centre Region, in an area bordering the Sanaga River, with an estimated annual tomato production of approximately 10,000 tons.
This area represents the perfect combination of logistical efficiency and institutional and academic prestige. Its central location allows us to serve the markets of Douala, the north, and the south in record time, guaranteeing product freshness.
Collaboration with universities and agronomy institutes in Yaoundé and Obala, as well as Italian academies, ensures the training project and transforms the site into a cutting-edge development hub, making the region the beating heart of Second Generation Agriculture in Cameroon. This allows us to train trainers and workers on-site, who, according to the project, will support the training of local farmers in greenhouses and traditional agriculture.
Reinvestment hypothesis
ARIEL's reinvestment plan is structured into multiple strategic phases aimed at ensuring social stability and technological autonomy.

In the initial years, the focus will be on direct training through the "IKI Academy", a training center for local farmers and aspiring professionals.

During the expansion phase, in addition to training, we will propose investments to finance the creation of Community Agricultural Oases and local tomato processing companies, transforming the local population into production partners and training future industry leaders through international scholarships.

The goal is to create a solid and resilient production ecosystem to support the Cameroonian Government's "Food Sovereignty" projects. The "Feeding the Future" program will provide high-quality products and water and livelihood projects to local villages and communities.
Since ARIEL is a project designed to be sold to Cameroon, it is essential for us that technology be put at the service of local culture.
Instead of a modernization that uproots, we propose a progress that nourishes: a model in which Italian industrial efficiency generates direct resources for the country's ancestral heritage.
Our presence in Cameroon respects ancestor worship, culture, and local realities, integrating the rhythms of production with the social duties of workers, so that every salary and every technology serves to elevate collective dignity.
